This course is the result of extensive research and literature reviews in the fields of organizational learning, knowledge creation modeling, knowledge translation, absorptive capacity, and knowledge management. Referenced research papers have been carefully selected to ensure students cover the latest research topics in the subject effectively and efficiently. 

The basis of competition in today’s marketplace is changing from one based on human labor, to one where the principal source of value creation is an organization’s knowledge, and the organization’s ability to rapidly acquire new knowledge through learning. How quickly an organization can handle the impact of new disruptive technologies on their products and services will be a direct result of how smart they already are in the subject, and how fast they can learn. 

Thus, organizational learning must be part of any comprehensive digital transformation effort. An enhanced organizational learning model is presented with recommended practical implementation steps to ensure the updated digital environment incorporates a learning capability that can process and understand the latest disruptive and innovative technologies. 

A large part of organizational learning involves knowledge conversion modes or processes that transform knowledge states between an individual and group focus, and between tacit and explicit forms, as the organization’s core knowledge levels evolve iteratively to increasingly refined levels of accumulated base knowledge. As this course will demonstrate, the accumulated base knowledge in a firm has a direct effect on its absorptive capacity, and on its ability to learn, and learn quickly. 

This course ends with a description of how to plan, design and cost estimate an example project to create and implement a Collaborative Learning System for an IT consulting company with 50,000 employees.
